Tallinn Mayor Investigated for Failing to Declare Loans
Estonia's Financial Intelligence Unit found that Centre Party chairman and Tallinn mayor Edgar Savisaar failed to report large loans in the declaration of economic interests required of public servants.
The weekly Eesti Ekspress, which has in the past devoted much critical coverage to the opposition politician, said that Savisaar needed the funds for the settlement from his recent divorce, which it estimated cost the mayor more than 200,000 euros.
