Reuters Adds Weight to Ansip Nomination For EU Vice-Presidency
Former Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip will be named as one of the six European Commission vice-presidents, said news agency Reuters.
Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker is set to unveil his cabinet today at around 13:00 Estonian time, with Reuters saying Germany, UK, France and Belgium are in line for high-level postings.
Previous speculation also penciled Ansip in as a vice-president, responsible for digital development. Finland's former prime minister, Jyrki Katainen, has also been named as a possible vice-president candidate.
Reuters said Germany will get trade, France finance, and the Belgian commissioner will be in charge of competition. The UK will oversee energy and climate change issues.
