The Conservative People's (EKRE) Party Chairman Mart Helme, speaking at the party's council meeting on the weekend, said the party dictates more agenda than any other party in the Parliament.

Helme said the party's aims now are to participate successfully at the presidential (2016) and local (2017) elections, ETV reported.

The party is yet to name a candidate at the presidential elections, but an EKRE candidate could come from within or outside of the party.

“The difficulties remain, but so does our success story. We are the smallest faction in the Parliament but we dictate more agenda than anyone else. More than the Center Party with its 27 members and more than the Reform Party with its 30 MPs. Because it has been us who have forced the Reform Party to wriggle, lie and fake what has been discussed at all sorts of ministerial meetings and meetings of the European Council. As we are the spokesmen, the formers and organizers for these views which do not want to see Estonia as a geographic concept overflowing with multicultural immigrants,” he said.

EKRE has seven seats in the Parliament. The party was founded on the ashes of the People's Union of Estonia in 2012, after the People's Union (Rahvaliit) failed to win any seats at the 2011 national elections.
