Center Party loses another MP
The Center Party, which has seen a wave of members leave over the last few years, will have one fewer faction member after Olga Sõtnik announced yesterday she was stepping out.
"Today I gave myself a [birthday] gift - left the Center Party. Let a new year in my life start with a blank page," she announced on her public Facebook page.
The former Tallinn deputy mayor and two-term Center MP had been a member of the party since 2000, but Sõtnik ran as an independent at this spring's European elections.
The biggest defection from the party was a group of five, who formed a new parliamentary grouping called "the Democrats" in 2012.
The party now has 19 MPs in the faction, which is the same number as the Social Democrats.
