100 UK Soldiers and Defense Minister Arrive in Estonia
Philip Hammond, the UK's Secretary of State for Defense, will touch down at Ämari Air Force Base today for a short visit and will bring a detachment of 100 troops who will take part in the Kevadtorm (Spring Storm) military games.
The troops are part of the 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, which served alongside Estonian soldiers in Afghanistan.
“The Battalion is delighted to be taking part in this important exercise and looking forward to building on the excellent relationship we have formed with Estonian Forces on operations in Afghanistan,” Lieutenant Colonel George Maund, commanding officer of the regiment, told the Telegraph today.
Prince Harry, who will be Estonia for an official visit in mid-May, will also visit the Kevadtorm exercise, the biggest annual military games in Estonia. The exercises will involve approximately 6,000 soldiers from Estonia and allied nations.
Hammond will also visit British fighter pilots in a trip to Lithuania.
