Tallinn's landmark Viru, Kuninga and Vanaturu streets will become a pedestrian-only zone after thorough reconstruction.

The reconstruction works will see the road surfaces leveled, underground communications renewed and streets closed for cars, Deputy Mayor Kalle Klandorf said.

In total, 480 meters of roads will be reconstructed. The building works will cost 3.4 million euros and shouldbe completed by November 2016.

The city governement warned that access to these streets might be occasionally restricted during the construction period.
