Saare Replaces Laar in Parliament
As veteran politician and former prime minister Mart Laar departs today to head the supervisory board of the Bank of Estonia, Andrus Saare will be replacing him in the 101-member Estonian Parliament.
Saare will begin work on June 13, just a week before lawmakers are due to adjourn for the summer recess.
Laar took over Saare's MP seat a year ago, when Laar had recovered from the stroke that forced him to leave his position as defense minister.
Laar was confirmed as chairman of the central bank's supervisory board last month. He is replacing Jaan Männik and begins a five-year term today.
