Government Has Enough Cover for Budget Changes, Rõivas Says
The government has sufficient financial means to meet the coalition’s promises, Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas said on Monday at Parliament in response to the opposition’s questions.
According to the Prime Minister, the current government will try to continue with a conservative budget policy and they are prepared for possible changes in the budget, with an extra 40 million euros to spare, ETV reported on Monday.
The government plans on steps that would create a structural budget surplus and does not agree with IRL’s suggestion that the Cabinet is unable to back up its plans and reminded the party of proposed spending worth 250 million euros, still without financial cover.
“If the state of the economy should require a change in the budget position, we are prepared to do that,” Rõivas said.
