IRL has proposed setting up a select committee in Parliament to analyze and block "propaganda" from television outlets stationed in Russia.

Urmas Reinsalu, Chairman of IRL, said the commission would analyze the effects of Russian TV channels on the population of Estonia and seek ways of blocking their content.

“Russian propaganda has become more aggressive after the events in the Ukraine. Latvia and Lithuania have time-limited bans on illegal televised propaganda,” Reinsalu said today, adding that the topic has turned into a security matter.

IRL's Anvar Samost, who is championing a pan-European Russia-language media channel, said the problem of Kremlin media outlets in the EU is not only limited to the Baltics but also influence Russian minorities in Finland, Germany and the UK.
