E-residency application process made easier
The cabinet has approved an act which lets e-residency be issued through Estonian embassies around the world and allows electronic applications. The act will be in force from April 1.
According to the new rules, people no longer have to travel to Estonia and go to the PPA office here, but can apply for the residency online. They can then collect their e-resident's ID-card from the nearest Estonian embassy. One in-person visit to the embassy or the PPA office in Estonia remains a requirement.
The online application form for e-residency will be made available in English and Russian.
Estonia's e-residency project was launched in December 2014. Read more about it here.
