Paet Voted Most Popular Minister, Lang Languishes in Last Place
Foreign minister Urmas Paet has been voted by readers of the Eesti Päevaleht daily as the most popular of the nation's 13 ministers, while culture minister Rein Lang, who recently stepped down, was unsurprisingly named the least popular.
The daily said that Paet's popularity was down to his work with international agreements such as progress the Russian border treaty and visa-free travel to Thailand.
Andrus Ansip, the prime minister, edged out Finance Minister Jürgen Ligi to take the second-place spot. It was Ansip's best ever finish in the poll, which was conducted for the sixth time.
Hanno Pevkur, the justice minister, rounded off the all-Reform Party top four.
Regional Affairs Minister Siim-Valmar Kiisler, who has been very vocal on regional reforms, and Interior Minister Ken-Marti Vaher, who was criticized for his part in the search for a new chief of police, joined Lang in the bottom three. Kiisler and Vaher are members of IRL; Lang is Reform Party.
