Terras Gets War Update in Kabul
The British commander of the NATO-led international security forces (ISAF) in Afghanistan, Lt. Gen. Adrian Bradshaw, met Estonia's defense forces Commander-in-Chief Brig. Gen. Riho Terras in Kabul.
With the military effort facing some of its darkest days, Terras had flown to the war-torn country's capital on March 18 to be briefed on the security situation at ISAF headquarters.
Estonia has some 150 soldiers stationed in the country, fighting alongside the British in the southern province of Helmand, where the allies have managed to consolidate some gains of formerly Taliban-held territory.
Lt. Gen. Bradshaw told Terras on March 20 that the capability of Afghanistan's own security forces had risen due to ISAF and the country's defense forces were able to take on responsibility in new regions.
Lt. Gen. David Bolger of the US armed forces, the head of the NATO training mission in Afghanistan, briefed Terras on the current state and plans for training security forces in the country.
