The Center Party is currently enjoying greater support than the two largest coalition parties put together, the latest ERR commissioned popularity shows.

According to the poll conducted by Turu-uuringute AS, the Center Party has the support of 33, Reform Party 17 and Social Democrats 13 percent of the respondents in November.

The Center Party's popularity rating went up by a significant 6 percent this month. Juhan Kivirähk, research head at Turu-uuringute AS, attributed the rise to high media coverage the party is currently enjoying in relation to its upcoming internal election and a fierce battle for the top position between Edgar Savisaar and Kadri Simson.

“As politicians have always said, it doesn't matter whether they speak good or ill of you, as long as they speak of you,” Kivirähk said.

The election contest draws in voters from both sides – those who support Savisaar and wish for things to continue as they were, as well as those who root for a new chairman, hoping to see a change in the party as a result, he explained.

The Center Party's support among the Russian-speaking electorate is an overwhelming 86 percent. Of the Estonian-speakers, 20 percent would vote for them. Just as many would vote for the Reform Party.

Compared to October, the latter has lost 2 percent and the Social Democrats 1 percent of the votes.

The Free Party has the backing of 11, the Conservative Peoples' Party 9, and IRL 8 percent of the respondents.
