GALLERY: Ämari Sees Peak Use as US Fighters Arrive for Military Exercise
Eight US F-16 fighters landed at the Ämari Air Force Base on Thursday in preparation for the Saber Strike military games.
The F-16s brought the number of aircraft at the base to 25, the most it has seen. Transport and aerial refueling aircraft are also present, along with a P-8 Poseidon aircraft, used for anti-submarine and anti-ship warfare.
Saber Strike begins on June 9 with troops from the three Baltic nations, the United States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Germany all participating. Estonia will send 400 troops to Latvia, where the focus of the exercise will be.
The games will end on June 20.
