Gallery: Independence Day parade in Freedom Square
The Independence Day parade began at 12.00 on Wednesday. More than 1100 military personnel participated, among them 70 US soldiers and officers.
The participating units lined up at 11:20 a.m., the parade proper began at 12 o’clock midday. President Toomas Hendrik Ilves took the parade, and Lieutenant General Riho Terras held a speech.
Over 1100 members of the Defence Forces, the Defence League, and the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences participated, along with 70 US military soldiers and officers as well as British, Belgian, Polish, Latvian and Lithuanian units.
