Test Tubes Bubble into Cyberspace
Thanks to the Tiger Leap Foundation and chemists from the University of Tartu, a collection of classic chemistry experiments can now be streamed online by students.
Leader of the 100 Plus Experiments in Chemistry project Jaak Arold, a chemist at the University pf Tartu, told ERR radio that videos of "greatest hits" such as electrolysis of water can be viewed in class.
Currently 65 "very different experiments" are viewable, mainly intended for upper secondary school students and university freshmen.
Arold said filming them was often complicated, and often could not be accomplished in just one take.
By 2011, 111 videos will be online at keemiavideod.ut.ee
