A private primary school in Tartu is planning to expand into secondary education and could open a defense-oriented secondary school by September 2016, uudised.err.ee reported.

The school, which was founded in 2007, had ambitions to open a secondary school for years, had not found a topic to focus on.

"We don't only need a traditional defense curriculum and military lessons, but other fields are also important, such as how to cope in a information war or in a cyber war – this means different competence and approach,“ Urmo Uiboleht, the head of the school, said.

He said the school could be a stepping stone allowing students to go on to the National Defense College or the Academy of Security Sciences.

"The foundation should be very broad, but that does not mean all graduates should go on to higher military or defense studies,“ he said.

School heads have already met police, border guard, rescue and Defense Forces' representatives to exchange ideas and plan future cooperation.
