Foundation to Support Extra Language Training for Adult Learners
The Integration and Migration Foundation Our People has announced a call for projects designed to boost the Estonian skills of vocational school and adult secondary school students.
On April 11 in Tallinn, and on April 12 in Narva, the state-backed foundation will hold information sessions for organizations considering submitting proposals to create the training programs, it said in a statement.
"Right now it's impossible to enter the labor market without proper knowledge of the official language, especially without knowledge of proper professional Estonian. That's why we are offering those studying vocational specialties the opportunity to study additional Estonian to complement the language classes mandated in standard curriculum," said Eduard Odinets, head of the foundation's lifelong learning unit.
The project is being carried out as part of the Our People's “Language Learning Development 2011−2013” program and is supported by the European Social Fund. Our People plans to distribute a total of 77,000 euros in grant money for the top proposals.
The deadline for grant applications is May 2.
