This Weekend's Weather: Cool and Dry

Denizens of Estonia can finally ditch their umbrellas, but scarves and gloves may be in order this weekend as nighttime temperatures are expected to drop to near freezing in low-lying, inland areas.

A high-pressure system coming at the country from the east should keep the skies clear tonight, according to the latest forecast from the Meteorology and Hydrology Institute. But it is also expected to bring with it a mass of cool air that will push the mercury down to around 5 C inland. Overnight, the coasts will see more moderate temperatures - hovering around 13 C.

After daybreak on Saturday, the temperatures should rise to 17 to 20 C throughout most of the country. There will be some clouds, however, and the north coast will have to contend with breezes ranging from about 15 to 30 kilometers per hour.

Saturday night to Sunday morning will once again be a chilly 4 to 5 C for those living inland, and it is here that some of the first zero or near-zero temperatures of the late summer/early fall season may be recorded in spots. During the day, skies should be mostly clear and temperatures are expected to reach 18 to 21.

Forecasts are calling for the rain-free weather to continue at least through the middle of next week, with slightly warmer highs of 22 to 23 C and a disappearance of the frosty lows - at least for now.
