This Week's Weather: Breezy and Damp
Wind jackets and rubber boots will come in handy this week as a persistent zone of low-pressure over northwest Russia is likely to send plenty of wet weather blowing in Estonia's direction.
The Meteorology and Hydrology Institute expects that low-pressure front to trigger scattered showers and coastal winds gusting up to 65 kilometers per hour on Tuesday. Daytime temperatures should be 9 to 12 C, dropping to 3 to 8 C after dark. If the weather is clear, however, areas of the inland could see the mercury hit zero.
Chances of rain on Wednesday are over 50 percent, but at least Tuesday's winds should slacken during the day. It may be wise to add a scarf to the ensemble as daytime temperatures should be a cooler 7 to 10 C. At night, temperatures are once again expected to hover around freezing at times when the skies are clear.
During the early hours of Thursday, the chance of rain will be smaller and the winds calmer. By daybreak, however, both the rain clouds and the winds will be back, with the north coast again seeing gusts of 65 kilometers per hour. Temperatures will be a similar 8 to 11 C by day, falling to 0 C by night.
Strong winds and occasional showers are forecast for Friday as well, while thermometer readings will be back in their familiar 8 to 12 C zone.
