Storm tonight will bring wind, wintry mix
Winds are expected to increase sharply in speed starting midnight tonight as a storm system sweeps across the country from west to east, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures are expected to remain above freezing, so snow accumulations may not be significant, but snow and sleet are expected to be heavy on the mainland on Saturday morning.
The islands are likely to see rain instead.
The high winds - up to 100 kph on the Gulf of Finland, 110 kph on the islands - are expected to abate Saturday evening as suddenly as they began.
The center of the storm system is expected to track along FInland's southern coast.
Sunday will be a calm day, but stormy weather is forecast to return next week.
