Saturday's storm cut power lines to around 60,000 households, although the strength of the storm was lower than first feared.

Elektrilevi, responsible for the power grid in Estonia, had up to 120 teams ready to repair power lines on Saturday, but the storm passed with less ferocity and only 60 teams were called into action.

The strongest winds hit Estonia at a speed of 137 kilometers per hour, with Saaremaa the worst affected, although no damage to buildings was recorded.

Viljandi, Pärnu and Tartu counties were also hit.

The number of household without electricity was around 3,000 on Sunday evening, with repair teams now shifting focus on the less used power connections.
