Temperatures are expected to remain low, dipping to minus 10 C on Wednesday evening, but weather reports are looking rosier after the official beginning of spring on Thursday.

Monday night should be cold compared to much of February, if the Meteorology and Hydrology Institute is correct, with temperatures ranging from 0 C in the west to minus 14 C in the east.

Tuesday daytime temperatures should be much higher, climbing up to 3 C in central and southern areas and on the islands, while winds remain weak. Sleet or rain clouds could hit the islands and western parts as one low pressure area could make way for a second area moving in from Finland.

Temperatures will remain around the zero mark on Tuesday evening and Wednesday, but winds could pick up and a short freeze is expected on Wednesday night, only to be replaced by strong winds of up to 70 kilometers per hour but warmer temperatures as high as 6 C from Thursday, when at 18:57 spring is officially begins. This, incidentally, is likely to coincide with the vote on the new government in Estonia.
