Regional Environmental Policies Under Discussion at Tallinn Forum
Tallinn is currently hosting a two-day, international policy forum on climate change adaptation in the Baltic Sea region, an event aimed at proposing a strategy to the EU later this year.
Held within the framework of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR), the forum brings together government officials and other stakeholders working on climate change issues in Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, organizers said.
The forum is group's third get-together on the subject, with the previous two being held in Berlin and Stockholm last year. So far, strategy drafts have dealt with the impact of climate change on agriculture, biodiversity, spatial planning and civil security in the region.
This time, the planned topics are adjusting to financing changes, climate change readiness and citizen protection, climate-aware agriculture, spatial planning and terrestrial infrastructure.
The completed strategy will be announced in Riga in September.
