Kredex Overwhelmed With Renewable Energy Aid Requests From Homeowners
Kredex will stop accepting applications from homeowners seeking aid to purchase green energy devices on May 14 - just two weeks after the subsidy was made available, whereas the original submission deadline was November 30.
Last week, the state agency received more applications than it could accept on the first day of submissions, reported Postimees.
Kredex has a fund of just 1 million euros, which it can distribute to people purchasing small wind turbines, solar panels and other renewable energy devices for their homes. But 153 applications were received in the first week, amounting to 1.5 million euros in requests.
Around 100 applicants were granted aid at a first-come, first-serve basis, for which Kredex received criticism from dismayed applicants.
Although the fund was relatively small, aid was dispersed fairly generously for the few that received it. Solar panels were subsidized by up to 60 percent of the total cost and wind turbines by up to 70 percent.
Of the aid applicants, 65 percent planned to acquire solar collectors, 23 percent solar panels and 12 percent wind turbines.
The minimum aid that can be requested is 1,000 euros and the maximum aid is 30,000 euros. On average, people applied for around 10,000 euros.
