This Week's Weather: Temperature Dip, Rain Ahead
The good people at the Meteorology and Hydrology Institute are predicting an average drop of around 4 C by mid-week, accompanied by occasional showers.
The edge of a low-pressure system moving over Scandinavia is expected to head to Estonia, bringing rain to the main islands, and Tallinn and Pärnu, with winds of up to 45 kilometers per hour over the islands and slightly less in the mainland. On Tuesday, daytime temperatures should hover around 10 C.
During Tuesday night and Wednesday, rain clouds should move to the east and south, but expect temperatures closer to 6 C throughout Estonia.
Rain is predicted to take a day off on Thursday as a high-pressure system covers the country, although temperatures will remain low.
On Friday, another low-pressure front from Scandinavia will bring heavy showers, with the only consolation being the 1-2 C rise in temperatures.
Looking ahead, the institute has used the words “possible slush” to describe weather on election-Sunday.
