Ossinovski meets Savisaar
An hour before the Center Party's board meeting in Tallinn on Monday, Social Democrat Chairman Jevgeni Ossinovski met with Edgar Savisaar, who is slowly returning to politics after a very serious illness.
The meeting itself is not unusual, but according to Delfi the Center Party first denied a meeting took place at all and the Social Democrats are tight-lipped, saying the two party heads did meet, but only talked about general political topics.
After the meeting, Ossinovski took part in a Social Democrat Tallinn board meeting, where the coalition agreement with the Reform Party and IRL was discussed, Social Democrat Tallinn head Rainer Vakra said.
Before elected to lead the party a few months ago, Ossinovski was critical of the coalition agreement, although he has been less outspoken after taking over from Sven Mikser. Ossinovski did say the agreement will come under review.
Vakra said Ossinovski will meet other party heads, such as Andres Herkel of the Free Party. The Social Democrat board will convene at the beginning of next week.
Currently, the coalition has 59 seats in Parliament, from 101. The Social Democrats have 15, and with the Center Party's 27 they would still need 9 seats for a majority. The Free Party has 8 seats. Any change in government is of course pure speculation and the Social Democrats could be collecting ammo to reopen coalition talks or listening to other offers.
