Two health advocacy organizations are planning two weeks of protests in front of the Ministry of Social Affairs in a dispute over HIV treatment and support services.

According to the health organizations, the ministry has refused to honor an agreement to allocate medication and services to a Narva foundation, Linda HIV. But the ministry said there has been no such agreement, reported uudised.err.ee.

The nonprofit network AIDS Healthcare Foundation and an Estonian HIV-positive network say they will hold one-hour demonstrations at the start and end of the business day for two weeks.

"We will show the social affairs minister [and other officials] that we will not give up and we are ready to continue the fight to secure equal access to quality HIV treatment and support services to all people living in Estonia," representatives said in a statement.

The Ministry of Social Affairs has maintained that no agreement has been signed with the foundation and that patients still have access to medication through the Ida-Viru and Narva hospitals.
