Tallinn Mayor and one of Estonia's longest-serving politicians, Edgar Savisaar, has returned home following a three-month stay in hospital with serious infection.

Savisaar was taken to University of Tartu hospital in mid-March with an acute infection, which led to doctors amputating his right leg above the knee.

Savisaar was transferred to Tallinn in May and will now continue the rehabilitation process at his country residence, near the Lahemaa National Park, east of Tallinn.

A Delfi photographer caught the moment Savisaar left the hospital, in what are the first published photos of Savisaar since mid-March.
