Estonian medical doctor Argo Parts has traveled to Monrovia, the capital of Ebola-hit Liberia, as part of a UN Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) mission.

The mission of the 13-member team is to aid international coordination in stopping the spread of the Ebola virus.

Parts has been on seven similar UN missions before and has worked as an Estonian health expert in Afghanistan.

Over 2,630 people have died of the virus since the outbreak began a few months ago, with most deaths recorded in Liberia.

The Estonian Foreign Ministry has so far donated 60,000 euros to combat the disease, and handed OCAH, the UN's humanitarian project coordination office, 430,000 euros.
