Ambulance Dispatches Constantly Rising

According to freshly released figures from the National Institute for Health Development, medical emergency services were dispatched 212 times per 1,000 persons last year, a figure on the rise since 2005.

Last year, ambulances were sent out 204 times per 1,000 population, while the figure was 181  eight years ago.

Ambulances were needed most in Ida-Viru County (292 dispatches per 1,000 people), followed by Hiiu (285), Jõgeva (257) and Valga (256) counties.

On the other end of the table, Rapla County emergency services dispatched ambulances only 148 times per 1,000 people last year, followed by Järva (154), and Saare (165) counties.

Dispatches were canceled or later deemed unnecessary most in Ida-Viru County, (16 last year, per 1,000 people), and least in Saare County (2.6 times per 165 calls).
