Domestic tourism is not yet suffering from the poor weather, partly due to the fact that Estonians book in advance, but if conditions do not warm soon, travel agencies are expecting Med package sales to pick up.

Postimees online reported Estravel marketing director Janika Ritson saying that domestic and regional package sales were up slightly compared to last year, something that Baltic Tours product development director Maris Kalda said was also the case.

Estonians are becoming more demanding and looking afield to the Azores, Provence, Tuscany and Split, Croatia for a taste of the exotic not delivered by, say, an island holiday village, say tour operators.

Greece is the leading candidate for economical trips, with a last minute package in a three-star on Rhodes going for just over 400 euros and rock bottom for a week's bed and breakfast and airfare starting at 300 euros.

In general, Estonian travel agencies report Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece and Croatia as the most popular destinations, with the precise favorite varying according to the travel agency.
