Court annuls Tallinn's Sunday alcohol ban (2)
Tallinn Administrative Court overturned a Tallinn City Government's decision from November, to ban the retail sale of alcohol in summer.
OÜ Aldar Eesti took the city to court, initially being granted a postponing of the effects of the law. Now the court ruled that Tallinn had no legal right to limit the sale of alcohol, saying that municipalities can only ban the sale of alcohol during certain events, Postimees reported.
The city now has a month to appeal, which it is likely to do.
The move is part of the city's crusade against alcohol, which includes banning alcohol sales in fuel stations and near schools.
