Police Involved After Teens Riot at Special School in Tapa (2)
A criminal case has been launched after students at a special-needs school in Tapa got out of hand yesterday, destroying a significant amount of school property.
The Eastern Prefecture launched the case under a section of the Penal Code on destruction of property.
The director of the school, Ene Kukk, was quoted by uudised.err.ee as saying that around 13:30 the students started smashing windows in the school, and tiles in the rest rooms. The police had to be called in to stop the vandalism and round up about 10 boys who fled the scene. They were detained in the town Wednesday evening.
The school is in under Ministry of Education jurisdiction and enrolls boys from the age of 10 to 17 and 18-year-olds under a court mandate.
