Have an idea for a fun activity or attraction at Tallinn central waterfront? Submit your dreamy idea to a competition and it might just become a reality.

Competence center Estonian Urban Lab (Linnalabor) has released a call for ideas to find suggestions for making the city's central seaside more attractive, as well as on how to better connect it with the city center and the Old Town. Ideas can be submitted in Estonian, English or Russian.

The best ideas will be picked by the developers and participating organizations and used to create a vision for the public space of Tallinn's waterfront. The Urban Lab will also draft an action plan so that individuals and organizations can start implementing and realizing the gathered ideas.

"It is clear that new real estate developments take time, thus the call for ideas is a great way for seaside developers to gather ideas how to best utilize and mid-use the space around planned housing in order to provide city dwellers diversified use of the seaside," the lab explained.

The call is open to "anyone who dreams about living in a modern and multifunctional city, feeling more attracted to living in a seaside city, creating new activities and spaces for spending time at the seaside, and contributing to quicker and smarter development of Tallinn central seaside areas," they added.

All ideas can be submitted via a dedicated web page meretallinn.ee, through a mobile app or in person in the information tent set up at Tallinn Sea Days from July 17-19.

The area for the development of which ideas are sought for extends from Russalka (Pirita and Narva maantee intersection) to the Noblessner quarter, incorporating some parts of Kalamaja, the Old Town and Kadriorg districts. The map on the website and mobile app allows users to pinpoint the exact location for a specific idea.

The call of ideas remains open until August 31. The organizers will do their best to realize a few simpler ideas already in September.
