Police Detain 37 Drunk Drivers in Raid
The police discovered 37 drunk drivers in a major operation organized across the country on Monday, and six of the offenders were professional drivers.
Riho Tänak from the law enforcement department said the numbers are worrying, uudised.err.ee reported on Tuesday. He called “startling” the fact that there were six professional drivers among the 37 drunk drivers.
In all, 9,568 drivers were checked, and among the 37 drunk drivers, there were six truck drivers and one at the wheel of a bus for people with special needs.
According to recent statistics, traffic deaths and accidents caused by drunk drivers are on the rise in Estonia.
