7,000 Rubber Ducks Released in Charity Drive
An organization of parents with children diagnosed with cancer released 7,000 rubber ducks to the Kadriorg Park canals Sunday, raising 65,000 euros for charity.
The event, which drew inspiration from a similar drive in Luxembourg, attracted thousands of spectators.
The collected sum will be used to set up a support center which would provide support for children with cancer and their parents.
Märt Avandi, the head of the organization, said physiotherapists will be hired and the children's time during their stay in the hospitals will be made more enjoyable.
The ducks themselves raced down the canals with the first duck bringing a prize for the owner. The ducks were later picked out of the water.
