The City of Tallinn is repairing the medieval wall at the edge of the Patkuli viewpoint.

The site is an attraction in the historic Old Town district, revealing a rare hilltop view in the otherwise flat northern Estonian landscape. The viewing platform is also located next to the Estonian government building.

The eroding wall has had small landslides recently, prompting calls for a quick response. City officials hope to finish work by next May, reported uudised.err.ee.

The repairs will entail dismantling and re-laying the stones of the supporting wall. The viewpoint will get a makeover with a reinforced concrete foundation, holding together the natural Baltic klint, and a new granite surface.

The jobs may require temporary closings of the platform and the staircase that leads up to it.
