Stateless People Account for Less than 11% of Tallinn Population
As in the rest of the country, the number of stateless people in the capital has been declining in the past few years.
According to the "Tallinn in Figures" yearbook just released, people with undetermined citizenship made up 12.8 percent in 2008 but this had dropped to 10.9 percent as of January 1, 2012. The share of Estonian citizens rose from 76.4 to 77.2 percent in the same period, Postimees reported.
The number of citizens was 321,417 and stateless people, 45,408. There were 35,671 Russian citizens, the latter figure remaining stable over the past five years.
The demographic situation largely reflects Soviet-era migrants and efforts to integrate them into society.
