Free legal advice and the country's most important laws are now available in Russian on a website funded and run by the Ministry of Justice and the non-profit Company Lawyers Association of Estonia (Juristide Liit).

“The aim of the website is to help people find their bearings on the legal landscape. Many people do not know who to turn to,” Justice Minister Andres Anvelt.

He said the website will help people tackle their legal challenges quicker and could help them avoid expensive court battles.

The site, which is also in Estonian, has a forum to post questions, which will be answered by lawyers within five days, and the legal translations of the top 30 most crucial laws, with 20 more on the way.

“The Estonian-language site has shown people seek legal advice on loans and family questions the most,” Anvelt said.

The Estonian-language site answered around 1,000 questions last year.

Many Estonian laws and other legal texts have been translated into English and can be found here.
