A psychological report on the mental health of a 15-year-old student who shot and killed his teacher in October has found the boy fit to stand trial.

Experts who conducted the assessment found the boy, named as Vahur by media, was capable of understanding his actions at the time of the incident.

The student spent over two months in a medical institution after the shooting, before being transferred to Tartu prison a month ago.

The student shot teacher Ene Sarap, 56, multiple times using his father's handgun during a lesson at the Paalalinna School in Viljandi. The wounds were fatal. No others were harmed, and the shooter did not resist arrest.

According to Estonian laws, minors of at least 14 years of age can be prosecuted, and the student, if found guilty, can face up to 10 years of imprisonment.
