The director of the Network of Estonian Nonprofit Organizations, Urmo Kübar, was among 43 people from 21 EU member states who were selected to receive this year's European Citizen Prize, given out by the European Parliament.

The judges have called Kübar an active European who has made a large contribution to spreading European values, uudised.err.ee reported.

Kübar has been involved with citizen platforms like ngo.ee and rahvakogu.ee.

The award ceremony is to take place on October 16 and 17 in Brussels.
