Homicide Rate Down, Crime in General Decreases 1%
According to the Ministry of Justice, murder and manslaughter numbers are down by 10 in the first six months of 2014, compared to the same period last year.
In the first six months of the current year, police registered 17 manslaughter cases and five murders, the difference being that a murder is the result of an intent to kill.
Traffic-related crime dropped by 9 percent, with fewer DUI cases, while muggings decreased by 24 percent to 177.
The number of thefts increased by 1 percent to 8,011, while the total number of reported crime decreased by 1 percent to 19,144 during the first six months.
