International Refugee Day is being marked in Tallinn with a simulation of what a day in the life is like for displaced people.

In Tammsaare Park between two of the city's premier shopping malls, a tent has been set up, introducing passersby to typical conditions in a refugee camp.

Representatives of the International Organization for Migration and the United Nations Refugee Agency will be on hand to discuss related topics.

The musically or rhythmically inclined can take part in a workshop featuring drums made from ceramics and dishes made by refugees.

On the basement level of nearby Solaris center, an exhibition of works by Norwegian photographer Espen Rasmussen will open, documenting the lives of refugees. It runs through July 7.

There are currently estimated to be 50 million people who have left their homes due to war, other conflicts or persecution.
