Tax Board Liquidates Shop's Alcohol Stock
The Tax and Customs Board has seized and destroyed 18 pallets of alcohol, each carrying from one to two tons of alcoholic drinks, from a Tallinn shop after discovering extensive excise fraud.
The shop on Aia street in the center of the capital had failed to declare 22,000 euros in excise tax, forging import documents, ETV reported on Tuesday.
Authorities confiscated the falsely declared or undeclared alcohol, and three people connected with the store have received suspended sentences. The mastermind was also handed a 10,000-euro fine.
The packaging was recycled.
