Eesti Ekspress journalists Margus Järv and Dannar Leitmaa won the 2013 Bonnier Award – the nation's most prestigious investigative reporting prize – for revealing the problems during last year's Reform Party internal elections.

The pair revealed at the end of May that a number of votes had been cast at recent Reform Party leadership elections by elderly party members who had no knowledge of casting a vote.

The party refused to run new elections, and pointed a finger at MEP Kristiina Ojuland, who was then thrown out of the party.

Järv and Leitmaa will receive 4,500 euros.

Other news pieces on the short-list were a doping scandal concerning Tartu doctor Vitali Bernatski and two Äripäev stories on the Swiss bank account of Edgar Savisaar.
