Tunisian Man Imprisoned for 15 Years for Murdering Wife
Harju County Court today sentenced Mohamed Helmi Jebnoun to 15 years in prison finding him guilty of attacking and killing his wife in the Tallinn district of Lasnamäe last summer.
The court also ruled that the 41-year-old man must be deported once his sentence is completed and be refused entry for five years after leaving Estonia. The man must also pay around 15,000 euros in court fees.
Jebnoun admitted to killing his Estonian wife, but his defense said the crime should be classified as homicide or aggravated manslaughter, as he had no intent to murder when attacking her after a dispute. The court ruled against the plea, which would have meant a lighter sentence.
