Kotka: Competence of Estonian IT Companies Upsurged After Economic Crisis
Estonian IT companies are ready to contribute more to the export of goods and services, having increased in strength after the economic crisis, according to Taavi Kotka, Deputy Secretary General at Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications.
“The more people talk about us, and the more is written about us, the better for us. The fact that the World Bank has recognized Estonia's IT sector, our IT success story, is a victory for our businesses,” Kotka told ETV on Tuesday, adding that the recognition will allow companies to offer products to new clients worldwide.
Officials from the World Bank gathered in Tallinn on Tuesday with a report titled “Internet and Development” in mind. The report will be completed by 2016 and will focus on best IT practices in both private and state sectors. Estonia's e-services, e-identity and the X-Road database system will be featured in the report.
