Friday will mark the beginning of a pilot project to allow customers at selected stores to pay by just holding their smartphones up to a terminal.

Participants in the project are mobile operator EMT, the Tallinna Kaubamaja group of companies and four banks: Swedbank, SEB, Danske and Nordea.

The test group consists of 150 people, mainly representing the partners in the project.

The payment solution is being used in the cosmetics department of the Tallinna Kaubamaja department store and its grocery store on the lower level, two Selver supermarket locations and a variety of cafes.
