Researchers Gather to Discuss Social Sustainability
The University of Life Sciences is hosting an international conference titled Biosystems Engineering from May 12 to 13, which brings together researchers from 11 countries to discuss issues related to social sustainability.
Throughout the two-day conference scientists will talk about different agriculture technologies and the advantages of bio energy; look into the field of ergonomics; and address problems in engineering education.
"This gathering is meant for those researchers who are really concerned about sustainable development of the human society,” said Margus Arak, director of the Institute of Technology at the university.
The opening lecture titled "Our Choices in Energetics" will be delivered by former MEP Andres Tarand.
The conference, co-organized by the Research Institute of Agriculture, was held for the first time in 2010. This year's participants include representatives from the EU nations, Russia and Ukraine.
